The Grand Egyptian Museum (GEM)

The long-awaited Grand Egyptian Museum opened 12 new halls in a partial opening ahead of the still-unannounced official opening.

The 1-billion Dollar mega project will offer over 100,000 artifacts in display when officially opens fully.

The 5000 + wonders of the Golden Boy, King Tut-Ankh-Amon, discovered in his rock-cut tomb in Luxor’s west bank, will be displayed to the public in the museum upon its full inauguration.

The 95-ton-granite colossal statue, which was the museum’s foundation stone, welcomes the GEM’s visitors at the museum’s inner gate. The wonderfully preserved royal figure dates back to the 1200s BCE.

A spectacular suspending obelisk, that dates back to the ancient Egyptian most renowned king Ramsses II, is decorating the GEM’s outer garden.

The GEM has been under-construction for over a decade, and the overall opening date has been repeatedly delayed due to various different reasons, including financial and political ones and also because of Covid-19 pandemic.

A Gift to The World: as some of the officials tend to call the museum most likely because it will serve as the world’s biggest museum consecrated for only one civilization.

The museum is wonderfully constructed close to the pyramid plateau, intentionally to overview the Great Pyramids of Giza from the GEM’s inner halls. The construction of the museum aims to mimic the shape of the magnificent ancient Egyptian Pyramids from different protectives.
